The annual King Holiday Observance is a time that we celebrate, commemorate and honor the life, legacy and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our strategic theme for 2026 is Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation The Nonviolent Way.

The Kick-Off Reception is the opening event for the 2026 King Holiday Observance and is an invitation to the public to join us in celebrating and commemorating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All are invited to this gathering and celebration of the 2026 King Holiday Observance!

Volunteers will serve in various roles as greeters, food and beverage assistants, event setup and cleanup crew, other event support roles.

  • Event Time: 11:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. EST
  • Volunteer Shift Times
      • 8:30am-11:30am
      • 10:30am - 2:30pm
      • 2pm - 6pm
      • 5pm-8pm
  • Attire: All Black, Business Casual 
  • Location: Throughout The King Center Campus (449 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA, 30312) & Historic Auburn Avenue. 
  • Parking: Free parking is available at the National Park Services parking lot, which is across the street from The King Center. The entrance is on John Wesley Dobbs Drive. The address is 423 John Wesley Dobbs, Atlanta GA 30312.
